The first month of parking enforcement has seen the borough council’s wardens issue more than 1,000 tickets.
Cllr Chris Bowring, executive member for highways and transport said: “Since October 9 we’ve issued 1,021 contravention tickets and warnings. They cover a range of contraventions, but a significant number relate to overstaying in limited waiting areas and parking on double yellow lines.
“Although CPE has been successful cracking down on illegally parked cars, other areas we’re focusing on include disabled bays and parking in loading bays.
“Parking around schools needs constant attention, so we also aim to have visible patrols around them and not focus solely on ticketing.”
