ADULTS who want to learn how to cycle safely in traffic and increase their confidence on busy roads can now do so with the support of the Wokingham Borough Council.
The council’s Bikeability training for adults will take place on Friday, October 11 from 10am-3pm, where participants should head to the bike shed at the Council Offices at Shute End in Wokingham, located at the back of the car park area. Here, members of the ‘My Journey’ team will begin training.
“Our My Journey team have a tremendous track record for helping both children and adults learn to ride”, said Cllr Pauline Jorgensen, executive member for highways and transport.
“I am thrilled to see that they are now reaching out to those adults who need a few pointers to help them use their bikes longer journeys that may involve busier roads”.
By the end of the course, participants can expect to have learnt how to ride assertively, maintain suitable riding positions, pass queuing traffic and be able to use junctions controlled by traffic lights as well as multi-lane roads and roundabouts.
The team will also show participants how to use cycle infrastructure and bus lanes, negotiate vehicles that pull in ahead and ride with other cyclists. The course must be booked in advance and costs £10. Interest can be registered by emailing: [email protected]
