A Wokingham borough councillor said he remains committed to his duties to represent residents as he prepares to move to Chichester.
Marc Brunel-Walker has been a councillor in various capacities for 22 years. He sat on Bracknell Forest Council for 20 of those years as a Conservative councillor for Crown Wood.
During his tenure, he served as an executive member for economic development and regeneration, overseeing the Bracknell town centre redevelopment and the successful opening of The Lexicon in 2017.
He retired from Bracknell Forest Council in 2023, switching allegiances to the Liberal Democrats in January last year. He was then elected to represent the Wokingham Without ward on Wokingham Borough Council during the 2024 local elections.
He has lived in Crowthorne, for around 18 years, and recently announced on Facebook that his family are moving to Chichester in West Sussex.
He said: “As a family, we have purchased a new family home in Chichester, and it’s where my family will live.
“However, because of my job, and most importantly because of my role as a councillor, I will still be staying in the area and I’m in the process of buying a property.
“I’ll be up here during the week and most weekends, I will still be of service my residents and attend all the meetings of committees I’m on.
“This weekend I did one of my usual ward walkabouts, picking up new casework – damaged verges, a small problem at St Sebastian’s church, some concerns over some recent road repairs and more.
“Last Monday I was there for the scrutiny management committee, and next week I’ll be there to chair the community and corporate overview and scrutiny committee.
“I still run several large local residents groups, and I’m still very connected to the area I serve.”
Cllr Brunel-Walker’s current home in Hatch Ride is within Wokingham Without Parish Council, as Crowthorne is divided between Wokingham Without and Crowthorne Parish, which is in Bracknell Forest Council’s jurisdiction.
