Crowthorne & Crown Wood Coyotes secured two further wins this weekend in the Berkshire Women’s Softball Performance League.
The Crows played hosts to Warfield and Binfield in a two match tournament this time, as unfortunately West Ilsley were unable to raise a side and thus that match was conceded.
The Coyotes lost the toss in the Warfield match and were sent out to field.
The bowling was efficient across the board, with a stand-out performance from Nik Mansfield (0-2) who also effected two run-outs plus an excellent catch off Jo Lee’s bowling.
Letitia Blake kept tidily, conceding no byes. The combination of wickets and sharp fielding meant the visitors were restricted to a chaseable score.
The batting innings got off to a flyer from the dynamic pairing of Letitia Blake and Kate Pobjoy, and steady subsequent partnerships meant a comfortable victory even with the loss of four wickets. Top run scorer was Anita Applin.
The Coyotes won the toss in the Binfield match and elected to bat.
The same opening pair created the same dynamic start, and the closing partnership of Helena Jones and Gillian Finucane added a further 22 to take the hosts to a respectable total.
Binfield’s big-hitters were reigned in by tight bowling and energetic fielding, with particularly impressive performances from Lorna Owens (0-3), Kate Pobjoy (0-3), Gillian Finucane (1-4) and skipper Helena Jones (1-1).
Alongside wickets from Sushma Lall and Arch Nair, and a catch-of-the-season contender by Marsha Connolly, it meant the visitors were unable to reach the required target.
