WOKINGHAM racer Declan Dear finished seventh in the Donegal International Rally.
Competing alongside driver Shawn Rayner, co-driver Dear completed the historic section of Ireland’s only three-day rally.
The annual event in County Donegal, northwest Ireland, is set against the backdrop of the Wild Atlantic Way and Rayner/Dear drove a Ford Escort.
“We finished the Donegal Historic Rally and are more than pleased to say that after being plagued with problems over the rally, we finished in some style,” said Dear.
“We put in some very competitive stage times towards the end.
“We managed to claw back up the leaderboard, taking seventh overall by a few seconds on the last stage, finishing fifth in the category and winning the class.”
He added: “Donegal is an absolutely fantastic rally with top quality, world class stages.
“We got to do the Atlantic Drive stage and it was just wow! I’m looking forward to watching the in-car back on that one.
“Overall it was extremely testing weekend, but we finished with big smiles on our faces and have shown in the Donegal Rally what we can do.”
