John Halsall, the former leader of Wokingham borough council, has failed in his bid to get elected to Oxfordshire county council.
Halsall, who stood as a Reform candidate in Henley having previously been the Conservative leader in Wokingham, finished in third place with 14.2% of the vote.
He was beaten by Stefan Gawrysjak of the Henley Residents Group who polled 50.1% of the vote. Former Olympian James Cracknell, standing for the Conservatives, finished second with 26.6%.
Halsall, from Remenham, was the Conservative leader of Wokingham borough council from 2019 until 2022.
He represented Remenham, Wargrave and Ruscombe – now Thames ward – but stood down in 2024 to stand in the general election as the Reform candidate for the Beaconsfield constituency.
