RESIDENTS of a Wokingham care home are enjoying using a new Digital Rainbow Table.
West Oak Care Home hopes the device for playing games will create joyful experiences for its community, improving quality of life, and promoting cognitive engagement and social interaction.
The table offers residents a range of activities to stimulate movement, memory, and hand-eye co-ordination in a fun and social way, for individuals and groups, and is proving to be a firm favourite with residents from the home’s nursing and dementia floors.
Simona Cioinac, general manager, said: “We’re excited to bring a touch of magic to the residents at West Oak.
“This will make a big difference for those who might not be able to join in conversations, by helping them to connect to other residents through the games.
“It’s fun for the young and the young at heart.”
There are games to suit everyone, including word searches, solitaire, bowling, and tick tack toe, with everyone enjoying finding their favourites.
Dr Pete Calveley, CEO of Barchester Healthcare said: “We are delighted by the initial response of the residents at West Oak Care Home when The Digital Rainbow Table arrived.
“It’s heart-warming to provide positive and invaluable experiences, with residents more motivated to interact with staff, family and carers alike.”
