Wokingham residents and commuters are being warned to brace themselves for widespread road closures this Sunday as the highly anticipated David Cliff Wokingham Half Marathon takes to the streets.
The event, which draws runners from across the region, is set to kick off at around 10am and continue through the afternoon, creating major disruption for drivers.
To ensure the safety of participants, key roads along the half marathon route will be closed from 8am to 2pm. While organisers will attempt to facilitate vehicle movement where possible before 9am, after that point all closures will be fully enforced. Motorists are being urged to plan alternate routes well in advance.
The closures will be lifted in sections where it is safe to do so, but large portions of the route will remain inaccessible to traffic for much of the day. Local residents are advised that access to homes and businesses along the route may be limited, and delivery services should be prepared for delays.
Race organisers say that the event will feature a “fully managed” route, with marshals on hand to guide both runners and traffic. However, anyone planning to travel through the town on Sunday is strongly advised to check the official road closure map in advance.
