Elderly neighbours were left without power and heating at a park home site due to an electrical fault.
The High Pines is a park homes site with 64 pitches in Maiden’s Green, a hamlet north of Winkfield and Ascot.
The site benefits from a private road, garages for owners and connection to essential utilities.
But residents have recently been left in the cold without power due to a problem with Scottish and Southern Electricity Network’s (SSEN) underground network.
Tricia Cronin, 82, who lives in one of the homes, said: “A good 50 per cent of the people are senior citizens living alone, without family close by.
“The homes go so cold! Some of us are not disabled, but we are struggling; they keep treating us like mushrooms.
“We can be for four to five hours with no lights, and candles are a recipe for disaster.
“We’ve got a substation, but I don’t know where our electricity starts from- we know SSEN is the company that comes on site.
“We don’t want to shout at anybody, but we’ve got absolutely nothing so far.
“Some people sit all night with the light flickering, the electricity goes on and off for two or three days, there is no consistency, it’s a constant nagging ‘on then off’.
“We are at our wits’ end – does someone have to die or have a serious accident for us to be taken seriously?”
Responsibility for the electricity at the site falls with SSEN, which the owner Kim Howard has been in contact with.
Mrs Cornin raised the issue earlier this month. SSEN was able to resolve the issue shortly after it was raised by the Local Democracy Reporting Service.v
A spokesperson said: “SSEN has fully repaired a fault to an underground cable in the Maiden’s Green area.
“This complex repair has safely reconnected the 15 properties affected in the area, with all being fully restored to the network earlier this month.”
