A COMMUNITY event hosted by St Nicholas Church, Emmbrook, on Saturday was a great success say organisers.
Held in Emmbrook Village Hall, the church’s Community Showcase was an opportunity for visitors to see the wide range of classes, groups and services held at the hall.
The event was the first of St Nicholas Church’s 50th birthday celebrations this year.
Susannah Riley, a St Nicholas member, said: “We had a steady stream of people coming to find out what happens in Emmbrook, and everyone we spoke to said they had thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.
“Vistors were even able to enjoy a beautiful Indian dance demonstration.”
Groups contributing to the event included: St Nicholas Church; Emmbrook Residents Association; Wokingam charity Soulscape, Home-Start Wokingham; Emmbrook Village Hall Tea Club; West Forest Townswomen’s Guild; Indian Dance Lessons; and Friends of the Emmbrook.
Visitors said: “Today proved community spirit is alive and well in Emmbrook,” “It was a great afternoon with a positive buzz,” and “There was a lovely atmosphere. It was good to meet new people and catch up with old friends.”
The church’s next 50th Birthday event will be a tabletop games afternoon.
This will be held at Emmbrook Village Hall on Saturday June 13, from 3pm until 5pm.
All ages will be welcome to bring a much loved game to share with others, for a fun afternoon of entertainment.
