Six year old Evelyn-Mae got her wish to visit The Houses of Parliament.
The six year old won a competition to design Wokingham MP Clive Jones’ official Christmas card, and as well as seeing her artwork distributed to thousands of borough addresses, her prize involved a visit to Westminster.
Every year, Clive launches a children’s competition to design the image for his official Christmas card, which reaches 40,000 addresses.
The image on the front of this year’s card was drawn by the talented youngster Evelyn-Mae Smith.
As soon as she knew she had won the design competition, she was excited to be going to Westminster.
“She didn’t stop talking about it,” said her dad, Ben, “and she was asking about what politicians do.”
On December 10, her dream to visit the House of Commons became a reality, when Evelyn-Mae and her parents met MP Clive Jones and Speaker of the House of Commons Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP.
”It was an absolute pleasure to show her and her family around Westminster,” said Clive.
“Well done Evelyn-Mae!”
