EVERY STEP COUNTS: Stand by for action

I want you inspired.

I want you motivated.

I want you interested and then I want you COMMITTED.

I am literally waking up every morning at the moment with a huge spring in my step. I had a few days the other week where I had lost my mojo temporarily. I put this down to some late nights studying my psychology masters, a few late nights watching boxing, less light on average each day and overall just the climate changing and it being damp and cold. Can you relate to that?

It never lasts forever though especially when you put things in place to smash through phases like that.

You create awareness of the issues.

Bringing Christmas cheer to tackle loneliness

You develop intentions to start the change cycle.

Finally, you TAKE ACTION and that is where the magic happens.

You see, there has been a huge amount of research done on the subject of taking action and habit formation and it is when you TAKE ACTION that the serious stuff really unfolds in your body and then the results start to come.

This is what I want to talk to you about this week. I have had so many discussions with clients over the last few weeks around this area.

Can you relate to any of the issues my clients and friends have been suffering from recently?

  • Less time to do anything with deadlines looming?
  • Feeling overwhelmed with life and being dragged from pillar to post?
  • Trouble sleeping and settling down with busy schedules?
  • Feeling lethargic and willing on January?
  • Low energy levels due to late nights and early starts?
  • Feeling less full of life than normal?

I am sure that if you are reading this then there is a high probability that you may resonate with one or more of the above. Personally, with the darker nights, cooler days, busier evenings and overall stress of extra jobs being needing to be done, life is sometimes more arduous for me also…but there are things you can do to help yourself.

What ACTION steps could you be taking right now to SKYROCKET your MIND, BODY and LIFE in the next couple of weeks before 2019 comes around whilst reducing some of the symptoms above?

Get up earlier – I have written at length about this area of my coaching. I encourage all my clients to get up earlier, yes earlier. It may sound silly to say that if you are tired then get up earlier but trust me it works.

When you have more time available to yourself in the morning to spend doing things that help your overall well-being then it really is life changing. It doesn’t need to be crazy early but getting up even 30 minutes early will dramatically improve your life.

Imagine what you could do with an extra 30 minutes a day between now and New Year’s Eve? That’s 8.5 hours for some YOU time… the options are endless.

Reduce your workouts down in time – Many of my clients have adopted this approach in the last few weeks.

If you train for an hour a day, then switch to 30 minutes and use the time saved to work on other things that will lower your stress levels.

Since the summer I have been working out for 15 minutes a day four days per week and 30 minutes for two days per week. The workouts are hard and fast, but it gives me more time to focus on other things such studying, Christmas shopping, children’s homework etc.

I don’t want to focus on it today, but I am launching a new coaching package called F.I.R.E in January and I will touch on this over the coming weeks. If you are time restricted but want to be the best that you can possibly be then it really could be the thing for you in 2019.

Thirty minute sessions with me twice per week either face to face or online … how does that sound??

Dedicate time every day to call someone you have been meaning to call – I produced a video last week on our Mental Health focused page via Facebook. The page is called “Time4Change – Down but not Out” and the video was all about calling someone and showing that you care.

Being kind to others has been directly linked with feeling happier and feeling more content in life. It doesn’t take long, and it can really make someone’s day. I personally guarantee that you will feel better after doing it.

Also, breaking up the day with a few personal calls will help keep you relaxed which will definitely help the issues mentioned above.

Balance out your diet – I won’t talk too much on this as you can get paralysis by analysis and information overload but at this time of the year it is vital to balance out your NUTRITION.

If you have a few nights out coming up then have a few nights in and try and eat well.

If you have a boozy Christmas party coming up on one evening, then pack your fridge with fresh healthy food options for the days before it and after it. It is all about playing the game.

If there are cakes in the office every day and you like cakes, then have the cakes but skip the breakfast possibly at home each day.

THERE IS NO BEST OPTION… JUST A BEST OPTION FOR YOU.

So, there you go, a few life hacks that you could implement starting right now to help boost your overall well-being over the coming days and weeks.

Next week will be the last column before Christmas so I promise to make it an absolute belter.

Happy Sunday, enjoy yourself, be happy, create growth in all areas of your life and be awesome.
