THIS SATURDAY, families are invited to join in a free family fun day in Wokingham.
The Town Council is organising is annual fun day in Langborough Recreation Ground.
As with previous years, there will be a selection of activities to enjoy including fairground rides, go-karts, science experiments, magic shows and a petting zoo.
There will also be the chance to get face painted and enjoy some craft.
And as it takes place in the Recreation Ground, there will be the opportunity to bring a picnic to enjoy. Some food stalls will be on site as well.
The event is aimed specifically at under 10s and runs from 10am to 4pm.
Cllr Gwynneth Hewetson, Wokingham Town Council’s chair of the Arts and Culture Committee, said: “There are probably loads of opportunities to have fun with the family, but how many are local and free?
“Suitable, predominantly, for children under 10, there is so much going on and the only the only thing you will have the opportunity to spend money on is the food.
“If you have been in previous years you will need no encouragement. If you haven’t and have young children then you need to be there.”
And there’s family theatre in the park on Sunday
And on Sunday, Howard Palmer Gardens will welcome a second performance of The Owl And The Pussycat.
The family-friendly show is based on Edward Lear’s much-loved nonsense poem of the same name. HookHitch Theatre Company attempt to find out what happened to the fur and feathered friends as they journey across the seven seas. The honey and money might be plentiful, but will it help them cope with magical beaches, mysterious monsters and deep-sea creatures as they search for the bong-tree?
Cllr Hewetson said: “We all love taking the children to the theatre but the plays brought to you by Wokingham Town Council are a little different.
“They are in Howard Palmer Gardens so the children can run around if they need to let off steam, you don’t need to book and they are free to attend. (A donation at the end will ensure they come back next year). It goes without saying that the Theatre Companies will put on a professional, entertaining and totally family friendly production.”
Curtain up is at 2pm, entry is free, donations welcomed.
