A GROUP that rescues abandoned horses is holding its annual summer fundraising event.
SAFE (Saving Abandoned Fly-Grazing Equines) rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes neglected ponies.
The Wokingham charity, run by a small group of volunteers, is holding its annual Family Fun Day next month.
Visitors to the event will be able to meet the SAFE ponies and enjoy a fun fair, with donkey rides for children, and a dog show.
The fun day will include inflatables, stalls, and crafts, along with a raffle and tombola.
Live entertainment can be enjoyed, along with refreshments including tea and cakes, a barbecue, ice creams and a licenced bar.
Kate, a SAFE volunteer, said: “SAFE is very excited to be running a Family Fun Day.
“It’s our largest fundraising event and brings in much needed donations.
“For a charity on its financial knees, it’s really important the event is a success – otherwise we’re in danger of closing.
“We’re therefore asking for as many people as possible to come along and support the day.
“As well as the dog show we have an array of stalls, food and drink, and plenty for kids, including donkey rides and a petting zoo.”
Live music will be performed by Big Azza and the Jukesters, Alex and Natasha, Wallflowers, Kevin Patrick Taylor, The Hiker, and Johnno Mack.
Audiences can also hear Twangling Jack, David Ford, Abi Powell, Mr Smooth, Michelle B, and Dave Dunbar.
The event will take place at Cantley Park, on Saturday, August 5.
Gates are open from 11am until 5pm.
Entry costs £2 per adult, with children free of charge.
Visitors are recommended to park in town centre car parks, a short walk away.
Those wishing to enter their pet for the dog show, can just turn up and enrol on the day.
