Cala Homes (Thames) has secured reserved matters planning approval for 256 new homes at Finchwood Park, Finchampstead.
Following approval, the homebuilder said it will deliver 256 new homes, 89 of which will be affordable through a range of tenders including social rent, affordable rent and shared ownership.
A range of one- and two-bedroom apartments, and two- and three-bedroom homes will be available through private rent.
The developer said construction will start on site in April 2024.
All homes will include electric vehicle charging and air source heat pumps; a gas-free heating solution, which enables tenants to reduce their carbon emissions and reduce their energy use.
Cala’s urban wildlife strategy will introduce measures to support and protect wildlife on the site, helping species such as birds, bats, bees and hedgehogs to thrive within the development.
The strategy includes bird nesting features, specialist hedgehog fencing, invertebrate bricks,
bat boxes or bat roosting features and native tree planting.
John Richards, land and planning director at Cala Homes (Thames) said: “It’s fantastic news that Wokingham Borough Council has approved our reserved matters application at Finchwood Park.
“We look forward to working alongside build to rent and residential property partners early next year to deliver these essential new homes for Wokingham.
“As part of our commitment to supporting the local areas we develop, we will also be creating a community pledge that will include a range of community engagement and outreach initiatives to deliver social value across Finchampstead and the surrounding areas.”
