HUNDREDS of people across the borough joined in with the first-ever Wokingham Wellbeing Week.
Organiser Anna Adams was delighted with how it had gone.
There had been yoga sessions, art exhibitions, daily videos from Wokingham Paper columnist Chris Hunt, and a community picnic where local musical legend Pauly Zarb performed.
“It was a good week,” Mrs Adams said.
“There were lots of individual events and people put a lot of effort into them. The art exhibition on Wednesday was superb, it was great in the town centre and then again in Wokingham Baptist Church on the Saturday.
“It was just one of a number of really interesting events that went on during the week.”
Another highlight was the crocheted kites that appeared around Wokingham’s town centre.
“They really caught people’s attention, they created intrigue and that was exactly what I hoped when I asked Gaynor White from the Barkham Hookers to make them,” Mrs Adams said. “They look lovely and got people talking.
“We also had children colouring their kites. These came from assemblies we led and placed in shops that fitted in with the ideas of friendship and freedom.”
Now, Mrs Adams is thinking about next year.
“We hope to do it again, and we hope to work with borough council and other individuals so it’s not on such a shoestring. We are really grateful for those people who did support us this year. Thank you.
“With more support, we can reach a wider audience. The events were really well attended, but we would love to welcome more. This is really important and really relevant.”
