A Wokingham town centre business has been celebrating the arrival of two new additions to its family.
David Cliff Estate Agents in Peach Street welcomed the two african cichlid fishes last month, and provided a welcome addition to its popular aquarium.
Speaking about why he opted to have the feature, David told Wokingham Today: “I wanted a unique feature and some calm in a very busy environment.
“It’s also a great talking point. Clients and parents often stand at the windows with their children and watch the fish, and we invite them in.”
He added that although he doesn’t currently have an aquarium at home, he did when his children were younger.
“I’m not sure how unusual it is for them to breed in a tank environment, but it’s certainly a sign of a healthy tank and happy fish,” he added.
African cichlids are native to Africa but are popular species for aquariums in the United Kingdom.
A spokesperson for Maidenhead Aquatics added: “It’s very much the norm for most African cichlids to breed in a properly set-up aquarium.”
