There is still no opening date for new flats on the site of Carnival Pool in Wokingham town centre.
The 55 flats were originally meant to be ready for people to move in this month, as part of initial plans to redevelop Carnival Hub on Wellington Road.
Construction firm The Mid Group went into administration last year, delaying work.
Wokingham Borough Council’s deputy leader Prue Bray said she doesn’t know when the flats will be ready.
Cllr Pauline Jorgensen, leader of the opposition Conservative group on Wokingham Borough Council, asked for an update at a meeting of the Overview and Scrutiny Management Committee on Monday, September 11.
“I thought they were meant to be open for move-in in September, and I’m not sure they’re ready yet,” she said.
The delay came after developers had to find a new contractor to complete the work, Cllr Bray explained: “They went bust and had to be replaced. I think it’s all taken a bit longer to appoint a new contractor and get going again and do all the work.
“So, I don’t know what the most recent date is for occupation, but obviously it’s not the date that was in the regeneration plan because nobody had allowed for the contractor going bust.
“But that happened last year, and it’s just one of those things that people had to contend with. They’re picking up the pieces, and it’s taken a while to appoint somebody.”
