CANINE companions of all shapes and sizes showed off their skills at the annual Dog Trouble Foundation Family Fun Day on Sunday (20).
Strictly Come Dancing star Flavia Cacace-Mistry, the foundation’s ambassador, along with her actor husband Jimi Mistry and their dog Pablo, joined families and dogs at the event at Birchin Inhams Farm, off Heathlands Road, which raised more than £1,200 for the foundation.
Chair of the foundation and dog behaviourist Jo Cottrell gave a demonstration on dog behaviour rehabilitation, selecting dogs and their owners from the audience.
Jo said: “It was a fabulous day, the weather was great and so many people and their dogs came to support the foundation by having some fun, trying new activities and getting some general tips on their dog’s behaviour!
“We host this annual event to provide a fun opportunity for the local dog owner community and to raise awareness of the Dog Trouble Foundation. Funds donated to the charity help to provide ongoing support and training to rescue centre staff and behaviour rehabilitation for selected dogs in rescue centres to improve their chances of being rehomed.
“The foundation also focuses on educating young people and adults regarding the correct care and handling of dogs to ensure the welfare of the dog and the safety of both the handler and general public.
“As always I am very grateful to Flavia for all her support and especially taking time out from her tour to be here.”
