Legendary football commentator Clive Tyldesley was the guest of honour at Forerst School’s annual sports dinner last week.
In what was a particularly good year for the Winnersh school, its under-16s football team (pictured) won the English Schools Football Association Elite Cup with a 3-2 win over English Martyrs School Hartlepool at Stoke City’s Bet 365 Stadium.
In doing so, they became the first school to retain the under-16s title, scoring 36 goals while conceding just seven on their road to the final.
More than 250 supporters made the journey to Stoke, and they were rewarded with two goals from England under-16 representative Luca Fletcher and one from Kiyan Coke-Mile Smith sealing the win.
Reahgan Quartermaine, head of PE, told Wokingham Today: “This was another incredible year for Forest School, as we aspire to future success, both academic and sporting.”
Awards were also presented to students across a wide variety of sports including athletics, basketball, cricket, handball and netball.
Tyldesley, fresh from commentating on the European Cup Final days earlier in Istanbul, spoke to the students about the importance of standards, not only in sport but also in life.
