A FORMER brickworks site now used mainly for storage and horses is up for sale for more than £2.75m.
The Old Billingbear Brickworks at Maidenhead Road, Wokingham, is next to Carters Hill Park gypsy and traveller site, owned by Wokingham Borough Council.
The gypsy and traveller site is not included in the sale.
Bricks from the works were used to build London’s Royal Albert Hall where the Bafta film awards were held at a glittering showbiz evening on Sunday.
A buyer of the site could redevelop it for homes or commercial use, if they can get planning permission, say surveyors Haslams of Reading, agents for the sale.
Haslams agent Harry Bevins said the 15.37 acre site, north west of Binfield, is being sold by the landowner, a private individual.
Mr Bevins said: “There are no proposed redevelopment applications [for the land] in at the moment.”
The sale details state that site is used now by the owner and a small number of commercial tenants for storage, offices in portable-type buildings and light industrial units.
There are also stables, a manège (a fenced off horse training area), open paddocks and three mobile homes, all controlled by the owner.
“All occupants are on informal tenancies, but the vendors undertake to give vacant possession upon completion of the sale if required as the majority of tenants are associated with the vendor’s business operations,” they add.
They also state that the site, not in the green belt, produces rental income of about £113,500 a year, with an additional income of up to £110,000 a year possible from the stables and manège. The paddock area is about 9.43 acres.
Offers of more than £2.75m for the site have to be made by Thursday, March 1 at noon. Offers for parts of the site may be considered.
