A CHURCH in Sonning is preparing to host English Anglican priest and author Nicky Gumbel.
Known as the developer of the Alpha Course, a basic introduction to Christianity, the visiting speaker will be joined by his wife Pippa.
The event is described as a relaxed evening with the couple, and a chance to ask questions.
Nicky Gumbel, originally a practising barrister, was ordained as a priest in 1987, and vicar of Holy Trinity Brompton in the Diocese of London, from 2005 to 2022.
He developed Alpha, an 11 week course that provides a place for people to ask questions about faith, life, and God, and to share their point of view..
Often accompanied by a meal, the course encourages conversations and friendship, and is offered by churches of different denominations worldwide.
Nicky Gumbel will visit St Andrew’s Church Sonning, on Sunday, October 29.
