FINCHAMPSTEAD FC hosted a memorial afternoon for Nick Markham on Sunday.
Despite the rain, Finches would not be deterred as fans, players and officials of all ages associated with the club came down in honour of former long-serving club secretary Markham, who died of cancer in February.
Nick’s association with Finchampstead began in 1996 where he was involved in running a
team before becoming secretary in 2002, where he helped grow the club from 10 teams with less than 120 members to 25 teams with almost three times as many members as when he joined.
The afternoon culminated in a football match for the Nick Markham Cup, which the club hope will become an annual event.
