READING FC fans are expected to protest during the team’s FA Cup second-round tie at National League Eastleigh on Sunday.
The cup tie, which will be broadcast live on ITV, is likely to see the Reading away supporters launch tennis balls onto the pitch after the club endured more financial issues this week.
In what has been a turbulent few years for the club under the ownership of Dai Yongge, there were more issues this week as the owner failed to pay the staff in full on time.
The club made the decision to pay the players in full to avoid another points deduction from the EFL, while staff have been told that they will receive their full wages by next Tuesday.
Protest group Sell Before We Dai who have organised several protests and other action over the course of the season to try and urge Dai Yongge to sell the club.
While talks about a takeover are currently ongoing, Yongge continues to trouble the club with his financial issues.
A statement released by SBWD reads: “We are disgusted, but not all surprised, to hear that Reading Football Club’s staff haven’t been paid in full for November – less than a month before Christmas.
“It’s especially unforgivable that a billionaire has chosen not to pay his staff properly. This is the latest act of negligence from a man who will go down as one of the worst owners in English Football League history.
“Employees of the club continue to go through unimaginable levels of stress.
“We took two steps forward with wins against Wycombe Wanderers and Carlisle United, but Dai Yongge has taken us a step backwards again. He’s undermined the efforts of his hard working employees again.”
“Just pay the staff, pay the taxman and get out of our club now.
“This weekend’s protest is on. Balls to Dai Yongge.”
