A MUSIC festival is to take place in Wokingham town centre today, and entry is free.
Organised by Wokingham Town Council, Party in the Park sees four bands perform in Elms Field.
And there will be family fun for youngsters to enjoy, plus a wide range of food and drink stalls offering cuisine from around the world.
The format is similar to last year’s Platinum Jubilee concert.
It starts at 3pm, with sounds of the 60’s from The Midnight Soul Sisters.
They will perform a mixture of soul, funk and Motown classics to get the party started.
Next are local band Majestix, bringing a high-octane rock and pop performance. They say their explosive approach to live music guarantees full dance floors and singing audiences, with a decade-spanning repertoire.
Vogue Madonna will be bring all the biggest hits from Madonna’s phenomenal career.
As a tribute act, the pop star’s voice, moves and image are all perfectly recreated.
Closing the show is Wild Boys.
The five-piece will perform some of the best songs from the 1980s, including hits by Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Wham, A-Ha, Spandau Ballet, and of course Duran Duran.
To ensure the event can be enjoyed by everyone, Wokingham Town Council has arranged an accessibility viewing platform for those requiring a higher viewing area or a less crowded space.
British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters will be returning, signing along to each act.
Food and drink options include Barbarian Grill BBQ, Krua Koson Thai, vegan and vegetarian food from Ms Gursha Ethiopian, Greek food from Olives and Honey plus drinks from Elusive Brewery.
There will also be sweet treats from Unholy Donuts and King Whippy.
This year brings new additions of Magpie & Parrot hog roast, The Sultan with delicious Indian street food and local bistro-style restaurant Hamlet providing a selection of dishes celebrating local produce.
Visitors may also bring along their own food and drink – but are asked to take rubbish home.
