A GRANT from Wokingham United Charities means that borough charity, Parents And Children Together (PACT), will be able to help more families recovering from domestic abuse.
The Tackling Poverty Grant, administered by Berkshire Community Foundation, has awarded £7,479 to PACT, to support their Bounce Back 4 Kids (BB4K) project.
Kathryn Warner, PACT’s director of community services and development said: “This generous grant is a lifeline for families in Wokingham recovering from domestic abuse. “BB4K’s unique approach allows children to explore their feelings safely while we work with parents to understand the impact on their children.
“We know this will make a significant difference in their healing journey.”
The money will be used by PACT to run a Bounce Back 4 Kids (BB4K) programme in Wokingham.
It helps children and parents who have experienced domestic abuse to process and recover from their trauma.
The programme includes weekly themed sessions delivered using trauma-informed techniques and activities in order to strengthen the bond between parent and child, improve emotional wellbeing, and increase parental self-efficacy.
PACT works with families, supporting them through adoption, trauma, and domestic abuse.
Its adoption services stretch across the South East of England, while its Reading Alana House is a community project that empowers women facing multiple disadvantages.
Its online Children And Trauma Community Hub (CATCH) is for families and professionals, and its therapeutic recovery programme Bounce Back 4 Kids (BB4K) supports children affected by trauma caused by domestic abuse.
Wokingham United Charities is a grant-giving body dedicated to alleviating poverty and improving the lives of people in the borough.
It also provides accommodation for older people in need at its Westende Almshouses on London Road.
Its Essential Item, Relief In Need, and Tackling Poverty grants support charities serving people experiencing hardship, while its Brighter Futures Fund enables disadvantaged young people to participate in extracurricular activities.
