WOKINGHAM Music Club has announced a new gig for early next month and tickets have just gone on sale.
Funke and the Two Tone Baby will be appearing at a special Monday night gig on October 3.
Although sounding like a band, Funke is actually a one-man ‘sonic explosion’ that combines guitar and harmonica with beatboxing and effects “that seamlessly collide the organic with the mechanical to create a fresh sound of unstoppable rhythm and unrelenting melody”.
There will also be a support act.
The music will be heard at the Emmbrook Sports and Social Club in Lowther Road.
Tickets cost £8 in advance or £10 on the door.
But before that…
The Strawbs are the first act in the new season of the Wokingham Music Club.
Originally a bluegrass group, over the past 50 years they have included other styles, such as folk rock, progress rock and glam rock, in their routines.
The gig, on Friday, September 16, has already sold out, but the club is running a returns list.
Tickets cost £14 in advance.
And that’s not all
The singer/comedian Richard Digance has been booked for October 21.
Not many guitarists have played a duet with Queen’s Brian May, worked with Steve Martin, played an acoustic set with Status Quo or performed at The London Palladium with the late Robin Williams, Richard has.
Now he’s appearing in Wokingham.
Tickets cost £14 in advance and the gig starts at 7.45pm.
