HONOURS: Tahir and Howorth fire in centuries

An unbeaten knock of 134 from Naqash Tahir ensured Shinfield 2s remained top of Division 2 of the Berkshire Cricket League.

Tahir led the way for his side as they set Wokingham 6s a target of 283 for victory, something which never looked likely as they closed on 159-9.

Another centurion was Eversley’s Tom Howorth, who smashed in 128 as his side cruised past Amersham 2s in Thames Valley Division 2a.

Jack Fisher’s 99 not out was key for Wokingham 2s won for just the second time all season, beating Finchampstead 2s by five wickets while in the Finch first team, Ed Oliver scored 93 in defeat to Slough.

Tom Nugent took seven wickets for Berkshire

It was certainly a day for the batters with only a handful of bowlers making it onto the honours list, led by Berkshire’s Tom Nugent, who posted career best figures of 7-28.

Elsewhere, Binfield duo Steve Andrews (6-29) and Tom Andrews (4-8) both impressed.
