A housebuilder proved to be in tune with a Crowthorne school by donating £500 to help fund a silent disco at its summer fair.
Vistry Group, which is building 85 new properties under its Bovis Homes brand at Buckler’s Park, off Nine Mile Ride in the village, made the contribution towards the event at Crowthorne CofE Primary School.
The Friends of Crowthorne PTA at C of E Primary School organised the fair, which was held on the school fields.
The event featured a silent disco, where people wear headphones to listen to music, and a barbecue, craft, sweet and charcuterie stall. The attractions included an inflatable bouncy castle and obstacle course, face painting and a test your strength challenge.
Jo Swanson, a member of the Friends of Crowthorne CofE Primary School, said: “We organised a silent disco and summer fair for the friends, family and of course the children of Crowthorne CofE School to enjoy.
“The main event was the silent disco but alongside this there were some amazing local craft and food stalls.
“We had lots of activities for everyone to enjoy from an assault course and bouncy castle to garden games and a teacup ride.
“This event helped us raise much-needed funds for the school to help enrich the learning of the children who attend the school.
“Without the support of the families and local businesses we would not be able to do this, so we would like to say a big thank you from the Friends of Crowthorne PTA to Vistry for its support and the generous donation that has gone towards the event.”
Amber Bowley, regional sales director for Vistry Thames Valley, said: “It was wonderful to hear how the children, staff and parents enjoyed themselves by taking part in the silent disco which had them dancing all over the school fields.
“At Vistry, we pride ourselves on not only building new neighbourhoods but also playing a positive role in the life of the community.
“We approached the school to offer them a donation towards their summer fair and look forward to this being the start of a close relationship with the school.”
Vistry Group includes Bovis Homes, Linden Homes and Countryside Homes.
