Some weeks ago the Erlegh Lodge Masons were looking for a worthy cause to support in Earley. We were very pleased to be approached by their Charity Steward, Malcolm Bradley, to see if we had anything to which they could contribute.
We were currently thinking of purchasing another laptop which our computer experts could use for further enhancing our work in co-ordinating trips for the elderly and mobility-restricted residents of Earley to visit medical and social appointments.
As a result the Earley Volunteer Driver Bureau (EVDB) were invited to send two representatives to a Ladies Festival at Sindlesham Court on Saturday, Marc 30. The event was hosted by the President John Jenkins and his wife, Cally.
Our Chairman Elaine Spratling and Secretary Mary Blustin represented EVDB.
We had a delicious meal and there were toasts to the Queen and the Ladies plus a Song to the Ladies. The President’s wife responded, as did the President.
It was at this stage that the President presented a £600 cheque to Elaine and Mary who expressed their thanks and explained what the Bureau would be using their donation for.
After this, a raffle and charity auction were held from which may be awarded another amount alongside that for the Masons’ 2023 Festival which is the main fund-raising initiative of the Masonic Province of Berkshire.
EVDB is extremely grateful to the Masons for this generous donation which will help to improve our service.
