West Forest Townswomen’s Guild met in Emmbrook Village Hall on February 17th to celebrate their 54th birthday.
A glass of bubbly was served and entertainment was provided by the Woodley Ukulele Band who played many songs we remembered well and could join in.
Several of the Guild members who had attended the inaugural meeting are still very much part of the group and have served in various roles on the committee throughout the years.
It was a very happy occasion and a reminder of pre-covid days.
A birthday cake was cut after the entertainment and served with a selection of cake and tea.
At our January meeting, our speaker Tony Boffin gave an in-depth account of the life of Lord Nuffield and we were staggered by his achievements from a very lowly start to the foundation of the Morris motor company.
The speaker had spent his youth in the vicinity of Nuffield House so had many anecdotes to relay.
All our activity groups are back on schedule so lunches, theatre visits and small group events are once again being enjoyed and we look forward to their continuation.
