A NEW chief executive for Wokingham Borough Council starts work today.
Manjeet Gill is joining the council from West Lindsey District Council, where she served as chief executive for seven years.
She replaces Andy Couldrick, who left Wokingham last month to launch a new children’s services unit in Birmingham.
As the council is currently undergoing the 21st Century Council programme of efficiency savings, she has been appointed for a period of at least six months and the recruitment process for a permanent chief executive continues.
Ms Gill said: “I am struck by how ambitious, collaborative and progressive Wokingham Borough Council is, despite the hard challenges of budget cuts to deliver its community priorities such as quality children, health and housing services.
“I am equally ambitious, and will work with councillors, staff and partners to help achieve the highest standards for the Borough with new ways of working that embrace a more customer and commercial focus.”
