WOODLEY Concert Band’s Autumn concert promises a night of sparking superheroes and jazzy villains.
The group’s programme of music will include numerous depictions of heroes and villains.
“You’ll only have to hear the distinctive opening fanfare to know that Superman is on his way,” said Cathy Hughes from Woodley Concert Band.
“And a certain jazzy introduction will tell you that Cruella De Vil might come around the corner.
The group’s Heroes and Villains concert features these and many more characters, but the players will also be celebrating real heroes – from sporting ones in Olympic Spirit by John Williams, to wartime ones with music from the film Cockleshell Heroes.
They will be joined by vocal soloists who will help to bring some of the characters to life.
“Our rogues gallery will be impressive,” continued Cathy.
“Could there be a bigger villain found in music than Sweeney Todd?”
“And when we get to Star Wars, we’ll certainly have both sides of the divide.
“It promises to be a great night out.”
The event will take place at The Bulmershe School theatre, Woodley, on Saturday, October 18, at 7pm.
Tickets cost £15, or £13 for over 65s, and £5 for under 16s.
A First Timers Scheme offers free entry for those who have never been to a WCB concert before.
