A GREAT-grandmother from Finchampstead who opened her garden for charity has raised £60 for Thames Valley Air Ambulance (TVAA).
Janet Robinson, who lives in Whittle Close, said she received so many compliments about her gardens that she decided to open them up to the public to raise money for charity.
Her initial plan was to open her gardens for one week last month, but it was so successful that she extended the opening for a further week.
Ms Robinson has recently won a number of awards for her gardens in the Wokingham Borough Council Housing Services Annual Gardening Competition, taking home the prize for best hanging basket or window box, and best individual small garden.
She said: “We had lots of people come by from quite far away to see my gardens, they all loved them and couldn’t believe the size of my sunflowers.
“I wanted to raise money for the air ambulance because you never know when you might need them.”
Ruth Dunkin from TVAA was on hand to receive a cheque from Ms Robinson on Tuesday.
She said: “We’d like to thank Janet for choosing to support us, her gardens are beautiful and the money raised is gratefully received.”
TVAA will be at Wellington College for their open gardens on Sunday, August 27 between 2pm and 5pm. Guided tours of the garden will be provided.
