JOEY VAN DEN BERG says he has put his mistake against Fulham behind him.
The Dutchman’s sloppy pass was intercepted by Lucas Piazon in the 83rd minute at the weekend, allowing the visitors to snatch a 1-1 draw.
But Jaap Stam showed his faith in van den Berg, selecting him in the starting 11 against Aston Villa on Tuesday night, where he was one of the stand-out performers.

“It’s one of those things that can happen,” said the midfielder.
“It was just unfortunate that it was a short ball. It can happen.
“You feel s**t about it, but you can’t think too long about it. You have to move forward, like I think we did as a team against Aston Villa.

“Of course Jaap had his concerns. He wasn’t happy!
“But that’s normal. It’s part of football, you make mistakes and hopefully you learn from it.
“I know I learned from it, but you have to show it.”

New signing Leandro Bacuna was named among the substitutes for Tuesday night’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa.
The Holland-born Curacao international could be in line for his debut at Preston North End

tomorrow and van den Berg feels the squad is beginning to gel.
“I think we’re not that hard a squad to fit into,” he said.
“We try to make everybody as comfortable as soon as possible. That’s what you need I think.
“We don’t know if extra players are still coming so we’ll see how (the transfer window) ends.
“I played against Bacuna in Holland. I think he can play in multiple positions.
“He’s obviously Dutch so we speak the same language.
“It’s always good to have somebody that speaks the same language but I think there’s now enough Dutchmen in the club, it’s only us to blame if it goes wrong!”
