Walkers are set to take to the streets and footpaths of Wokingham to raise money for deserving charities.
The annual Wokingham Walk, organised by Wokingham Lions, will take place on Sunday, April 28, with participants choosing to talk over five, ten or 15 mile routes.
Starting at Elms Field, the walk is also a fun way of discovering the countryside around the town.
Walkers use the event in many different ways, including catching up with family and friends, as part of preparations for longer walks; to raise money by securing sponsorship for a favourite charity and even to get the children away from their computer screens.
Registration is open at www.wokinghamwalk.co.uk. The cost remains at £15 per adult, £5 per child aged 12-17 and is free for younger children. All children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult.
Andy Slay, who heads The Wokingham Walk team for Wokingham Lions, said: “I’m delighted that the Wokingham Walk continues to be enjoyed by so many people.
“It is also great to see this twice-yearly event being used by local charities and individuals to fundraise by sponsorship, something that we always wanted to happen from the event’s inception”.
