A HORTICULTURAL centre, shop and café that aims to be the friendliest in the area invites customers to attend its Christmas Tasting Evening.

All are welcome to enjoy late night shopping at Hare Hatch Sheeplands nursery, near Twyford.

Visitors can expect a complimentary drink on arrival, seasonal foods, nibbles and tipples to try, and a warm welcome.

Andy Dicks director and co-owner of the garden centre says:

“This is our biggest ever tasting evening, with the largest ever range of Christmas food and drink, and lots of local products to try.

“Sourcing locally is very important to us.

“We’ve been to the premises, we’ve visited the farms, and that means that we have long established relationships with the suppliers, so we really know the quality of the products.

“A large number of local cheeses and will be available to try, along with some from the West Country, and some unusual European delicacies will be on sale and to taste.

“These are from niche food suppliers, the sorts of items that most outlets won’t stock.”

All the departments will be open for Christmas Shopping at a leisurely pace, along with the coffee shop which will be open for refreshments.

Christmas beers, wines and spirits will be available to taste, and can be bought at special prices during the evening.

Visitors will be able to try a range of Christmas cheeses, dips, crackers and charcuteries.

And gammon, turkey, sausages and quiches will also be on sale, along with meats and accompanying sauces, relish, mustards.

Christmas meat orders can be placed during the event, with pork pies suitable for Boxing Day or Christmas tea available at 1.5lb and 3lb sizes at the butchery.

Visitors can also try, and purchase desserts in the form of sweet treats, stollens, and puddings.

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here,” adds Mr Dicks.

“As well as the tasting evening, we’re preparing decorations for the festivities: Santa’s grotto is being built, and we have 10,000 square feet of Christmas ware, and dining ware.”

The tasting event takes place on Wednesday, November 16.

For those keen to visit Santa, he arrives at the centre on Saturday when the grotto also opens, on December 3.
