THE Lexicon and Bracknell Forest Council have teamed up to host a number of activities in the town centre to mark the historic occasion of the Coronation of King Charles III.
The celebrations take place on Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, May 7, and aim to bring the community together for a weekend of fun, entertainment and community spirit.
To start the celebratory weekend, on Saturday, visitors are invited to Bond Square to watch the Coronation ceremony on a live screen at 11am, followed by an afternoon of live music and dance until 7pm.
Throughout the day, entertainment will come from a line-up of performers including The Rock Choir, BWCB Liquorice Allsorts, Saxcelerate band, BARTA, Reading Gospel Community Choir, Vocalese and The Candy Girls, hosted by local musical impresario Richard Whennell.
The celebrations continue with a Tea Dance in Princess Square on Sunday between 11am and noon and again from 2pm until 3pm.
Shoppers can pause for a while and join in the dancing led by KL Dance Steps and enjoy a free delicious Coronation Crown biscuit and a refreshing cup of tea or coffee provided by Starbucks.
The activity is free but donations to The Lexicon Charity Fund will be welcome.
Sue Boor, head of marketing at The Lexicon, said: “We are thrilled to be able to bring the community together with a weekend of fun to make memories of this momentous occasion.”
Bracknell Forest Council will also be unveiling a commemorative bench later this year in Bond Square as a permanent reminder of the Coronation under which will be placed a time-capsule to mark the historic moment in time.
Susan Halliwell, chief executive at Bracknell Forest Council says: “There are a number of events taking place across the borough to mark the coronation of His Majesty King Charles, including two days of activity in The Lexicon.
“We hope these events give people wishing to commemorate the occasion, the chance to do so with family, friends and the wider community.”
