Loddon District Guides’ tenth annual quiz attracted a large crowd to support a valued local charity.
A donation from the event will go to Me2 Club, which helps children and young people with additional needs and disabilities in Wokingham and Reading boroughs.
The charity provides volunteers to ‘buddy’ with the youngsters so they can join in with mainstream leisure activities like Guiding and Scouting. The groups say the volunteers are invaluable.
Last Saturday’s quiz, including a tasty dinner, was at 1st Twyford Scout’s HQ and attracted 65 enthusiastic quizzers. Twyford Guides leader Sarah Tramner was MC, asking the questions which were compiled by Martin Hillier.
The Combat Wombats team of Adrienne Elly, Ellie Lawrence, Bob and Ruth Hulley, Fiona Brooke-Bennett, Alex Sheasby and Steve Palmer, team captain, won first prize.
Last year the quiz raised £500 for Camp Mohawk at Crazies Hill, which provides a day centre for children with special needs.
