A BOROUGH WI group offers a warm welcome to people interested in joining them for events and friendship.
Wokingham Afternoon WI describes itself as a welcoming group that meets on a Tuesday afternoon each month.
“We have interesting speakers, demonstrations or activities, and raffles and books at each meeting,” said group member Ann Ogston.
“And we also hold celebratory events, including Christmas lunch, and of course, tea, coffee and cake.”
Speakers this year will present talks on 100 years of shops in reading, occupational therapy, flower arranging, Berkshire Fire and Rescue, adult social care, CPR and using a defibrillator, National Garden Scheme, and changing attitudes to girls’ education.
Meetings are held at St. Paul’s Parish Rooms, Wokingham, on the fourth Tuesday of the month (except in July, when it’s the third Tuesday).
The group’s next meeting will be on Tuesday, May 27, at 1.45pm for a 2pm start.
Visitors and prospective members are very welcome to join.
