RESIDENTS from a Lower Earley care home enjoyed the great outdoors and some retail therapy, all rolled into one.
Henry Street Garden Centre in Arborfield was the destination for an outing of residents from Austen House.
They were able to explore market stalls, admire the flowers, choose some plants for the garden and enjoy some tea and cake from the centre’s cafe.
Austen House’s general manager Seva Hashimova said: “We absolutely love being able to take our residents out and it makes us so happy to be able to access different locations like this.
“It has been a fantastic day and we’ve all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.”
And the visit was appreciated by residents, including Marigold, who said they had had the “most wonderful time”.
“It is so lovely to be able to visit places like this and soak up the atmosphere,” she said.
“I especially enjoyed relaxing in the cafeteria with a delicious carrot cake and a cup of hot chocolate, chatting with my friends and admiring the flowers.”
The visit was part of the home’s life enrichment programme which aims to keep residents active, through a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored tointerests and abilities.
