COMMUTERS planning on travelling on the M4 this morning are being warned that a major route is closed and not expected to reopen until 9am, after rush hour has finished.
The slip road from the M25 to the M4 was shut last night (Thursday, June 22) after a truck overturned.
The light goods vehicles overturned at 9.34pm on the M25 junction 15 clockwise entry slip road for junction 4 of the M4 eastbound.
Recovery is underway, though the slip road remains closed while this happens. Highways England expects the road to be reopened by 9am on Friday, June 23.
The delay is caused by the damage to the safety barriers and the complexity of the recovery operation.
While the slip road remains closed, drivers are being diverted to take the M4 westbound to junction 5, exit and return on the M4 eastbound.
The incident took place near a Network Rail freight line, although passenger services are not disrupted by it.
