A TWYFORD man has been given a six-and-a-half year jail sentence after being found guilty of attempting to run someone over.
On Thursday, January 10, Reading Crown Court passed the sentence on Brendan Wooff, aged 35, of London Road, Twyford, following a four-day trial.
He was convicted of attempted grievous bodily harm and dangerous driving.
The incident took place around 2am on New Year’s Day 2017 in Rainbow Park in Winnersh, Wooff drove a car at a 35-year-old woman.
Thames Valley Police said his car made contact with her.
He then attempted to drive at the victim again in nearby Azalea Close and struck bollards.
The victim suffered bruising as a result of the incident.
Wooff was charged with the offences on Friday, October 5 last year, before being found guilty at court.
In addition to the custodial sentence, Wooff was given a driving ban for five years and made subject to an indefinite restraining order.
Investigating officer PC Zoe Eele of the Bracknell & Wokingham Investigation Hub, said: “This was a complex investigation, and thanks to the tenacity of the officers investigating and the bravery and co-operation of the victim in this case, Wooff will now serve a lengthy custodial sentence.
