MAYA’S Refillables sells an ever growing range of sustainably packaged household items and foods.
The Wokingham store is also a hub of zero waste activity.
Not only does Maya encourage her customers to reuse their own bottles in store, the store itself only purchases products from suppliers who will collect, wash and reuse delivery containers.
Always one to go even further, Maya recently discovered another refillable collaboration opportunity.
She has been selling eggs from Binfield’s Stokes Farm in store.
Produced by free range hens, they are delivered by Stokes Farm drivers, often within 24 hours of being laid.
The hens’ natural outdoor diet is supplemented by natural vegetarian food free of antibiotics or hormones.
“Stokes Farm is just four miles from the shop, [which cuts down on transport emissions] and the hens have 30 acres to run around in,” said Maya.
“Selling the eggs has proven to be another great opportunity to collaborate with business and with local people, as we can now also encourage customers to bring in their own egg boxes to fill in store, as well as their own bottles for household products and dried foods.”
The eggs are delivered on cardboard trays, stamped with Stokes producer number.
It’s a brand that’s well known in the borough, the farm having produced eggs for 30 years.
“We’re pleased to be working with Stokes Farm, and always looking to collaborate with more local suppliers,” said Maya.
