A WOODLEY charity has held its first ever raffle, which attracted more than 1,000 entries.
The Me2 Club, which supports young people with additional needs in mainstream activities, sold raffle tickets at various fundraising events throughout the summer.
On Monday, Wokingham Borough Mayor, Cllr Rob Stanton, had the honour of drawing the very first winners.
More than 1,000 tickets were sold, raising £1,000 for the charity, which is based in Headley Road.
First prize, which was a John Lewis voucher worth £150, went to Suzie Hazell. Other prizes included a family portrait package, a family ticket to see Peter Pan at The Hexagon, and six bottles of wine.
Cllr Stanton said: “[The charity] is clearly doing something right because this raffle has been so successful.
“Keep doing what you are doing because it is clearly very important to a lot of people.”
Fundraising Development Officer for the charity, Liz McDaniel said: “The money will help our core services and ongoing supported activities, which start up again in September.
“A big thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and supported us over the summer!”
