WOKINGHAM’S newest pub was officially opened by the Town Mayor on Monday.
Cllr Lynn Forbes cut the ribbon to declare the Oakingham Belle on London Road ready for customers.
Chris Cannan, pub manager said: “We’re designed with a 50/50 split. Half restaurant with full table service, and half dog-friendly bar.”
“For us, it’s not about the volume of customers, and rushing people through their sittings, but instead offering a quality dining experience with fresh and vibrant dishes.”
“Our menu is comprised 90% fresh ingredients, and we even make our bread here.”
The pub have rotating specials every six weeks, with a range of schnitzel currently offer to celebrate Octoberfest.
The pub has a trendy and warm interior, with well-thought-out brass finishes and a range of comfortable seating.
While enjoying a gin and tonic, Cllr Forbes said: “It’s lovely here, I’ve even booked for Christmas Day.”
The pub offer two for £10 cocktails between 4pm and 7pm, and offer a selection of mid-to higher-range lagers and wines. Darker ales will be on offer as the autumn season settles in.
Mr Cannan said: “While Wokingham has lots of pubs, most of them are located in the town centre, and aren’t always accessible to those in the suburbs. Here we can also serve customers from Binfield and Bracknell.”
The Oakingham Belle is the first pub to open as a result of major developments in the area and is part of the North Wokingham major development and is adjacent to the South Wokingham major development.
“We’re bringing much-needed infrastructure to the incoming community in these developments,” said Mr Cannan.
