Dr Mike Darlison, retired GP, passed away aged 91. A loving husband and father and dedicated doctor of over 40 years, setting up the Woosehill Surgery was one of his proudest achievements. He established the surgery in temporary accommodation as the new estate was being built around him in the early 1980s.
Along with his dear wife, Wendy, and the dedicated team of fellow medical practitioners and staff, the surgery offered a number of clinics aimed at the young families moving to the area. More than this they were instrumental in helping build the community provision on the Woosehill estate keeping patients physically active and socially connected through groups such as keep fit, tennis club, book club and an overs 60s club. Mike was totally committed to his profession and his patients, only reluctantly retiring at 81.
Mike was an active member of St. Nicholas church and keen Wokingham Rotarian. Widowed in February, he leaves behind his two loving daughters, Mari and Cathay and their families. His positivity and kindness will be greatly missed by his family, friends and wider community.
For anyone wishing to pay their respects, the Memorial Service will be held at St Paul’s Church, Wokingham, RG41 1EH at 2.30pm on Thursday 19th June. If you would also like to join us at the reception after, please email [email protected].
