Thames Valley Police have confirmed that the body retrieved from Whiteknights Lake yesterday morning is that of missing student Daniel Williams.
The 19-year-old, from Sutton, was a Computer Science student at the University of Reading.
He had been reported as missing after last been seen in the early hours of Thursday morning on January 31.
Thames Valley Police and Berkshire Lowland Search and Rescue found his body in the lake at the Whiteknights Campus following a five-day search, hampered by snow and ice.
Superintendent Stan Gilmour, Local Policing Area Commander for Reading, said: “Our thoughts continue to remain with the family and friends of Daniel Williams as they come to terms with what has happened. Please respect their privacy at this exceptionally difficult time for them.
“I would like to thank members of the public and the media for sharing our appeal for information in relation to Daniel while he was missing.”
