Mystery surrounds the sale of two pieces of land in Wokingham that have been sold at auction for £10.
The land, off Bakham Road, went under the hammer at an online auction last week. They were part of an auction of 180 lots by Clive Emson Auctioneers.
Mike Marchant, a senior auction appraiser with the firm, said: ”The freehold title included the mouth of Blandford Drive, which we understand to be adopted, and a long strip of land between 255 Barkham Road and 6 Blandford Drive.
“We are not privy to any plans the new owner may or may not have for the land.”
The lots included land at the mouth of Blandford Drive at its junction with Barkham Road, and an adjacent strip of land which appears to be a public footpath.
Investigations by Wokingham Today have so far failed to identify the previous owner of the land.
Wokingham real estate agent Mark Rath urged anyone tempted to purchase similar lots to be cautious.
He said: “We are not aware of the details of this sale, but the new landowner may well have to pay for the maintenance of their new acquisition, and insure it.”
