FOLLOWING its previous success, organisers of SustainFest 2025 have plans for their event to be even bigger and better this year.
Holme Grange School’s zero waste festival aims to inspire youngsters and their families, while putting on an exciting day of green activities in the school’s Wokingham grounds.
The festival will provide an opportunity for fun, creativity and education, for pupils and their families.
Highlights this year will be the chance to explore the science of speed, with a STEM car, an upcycled fashion show, live music and performances from pupils, and a silent disco.
“We aim for this year’s SustainFest 2025 to be even greener, and even more successful than the last,” said sustainability lead at the school Leanne Hughes.
“It will be bigger and better, and very focused on zero waste.
“It’s challenging to put the event on, but a real opportunity for children to learn and to collaborate.
“We’re focusing on avoiding bringing any potential waste onto the site, and using what we already have.
“For example, the bunting we made last year will be re-used, and a colleague at the school who got married in April has donated their wedding pompoms and ribbons.”
The festival will employ the use of any compostable plates or napkins, but will instead serve food on the school’s crockery – with a washing up challenge to follow.
The event, on Friday, June 20, is open only to families and friends of Holmegrange School, but next year organisers hope to be able to invite the public too.
